Driving Test Change - Independent Driving

Thought about getting another job?

Maybe you have just turned 17 and think you have all the time in the world?

Or is it getting too difficult doing the shopping without a car?

Don’t be put off by the scaremongering about the Driving Test changes in October of this year! The driving test will change. At the moment, the driving test involves 40 minutes of being given directions but INDEPENDENT driving will be introduced into the Driving Test from October 2010. This will mean that as well as being given directions there will be 10 minutes where you will be asked to either follow a route or a simple map for approximately 10 minutes.

At Beverly Slater School of Motoring – these changes will NOT have a big impact on our learner drivers, as we have ALWAYS taught our learner drivers to be SAFE and CONFIDENT drivers, including driving independently. We may not have given our learners a map to follow, but once they have mastered the basics and to build confidence, pupils usually drive home after only a few hours of tuition!

We do not expect our high Pass Rate to change, nor the number of lessons required to pass your test to increase.

REMEMBER: At Beverly Slater School of Motoring

we have ALWAYS taught you to be a Safe, Confident driver and not just to pass your test!

Welcome to our New Driving Instructor

Welcome to Paul Gerrard who joined us earlier this month. Paul, who has been a highly qualified ADI for eight years, will be covering the Stockport and Macclesfield areas.

Over the years Paul’s patient and considerate personality has resulted in an impressively high first time pass rate and we are delighted he has joined us to further our growth and high reputation.

We are delighted to have Paul working with us and are looking forward to his contribution to our fast growing, forward thinking and friendly team of Instructors.

Cheap Driving Lessons

Learning to drive is one of the most important skills you will learn during your life. Getting the right instructor is an important decision and has a significant impact on your personal and financial investment.

Cheap driving lessons can come at a price! The lessons can be of poor quality resulting in you having to take more lessons and, therefore, it will take you longer to pass your test. It could be quicker and cheaper to pass your test with an instructor or driving school with a good reputation. It is worth doing some research before committing to lessons based on price alone.

Before choosing your instructor, consider:

  • How safe is the instructor’s car? All European cars are given a NCAP Safety Rating, 5 stars being the highest awarded, older models of cars can have an NCAP Safety Rating as low as 2!
  • How reliable is the instructor’s car? Beware of personalised registration plates on driving school cars, these can hide the age of the car. A Driving Instructor’s can expect to do 25-30,000 miles per year and, as you would expect, a higher than usual level of wear and tear on the car.
  • Along with the car safety, you would want to know how people rated their driving instructor. Are they patient, (an Instructor should NEVER shout), friendly, reliable, punctual and professional? Do they record your progress? Will they help you with your Theory Test?
  • Do they smoke in the car or answer their mobile – both of these are illegal.

Automatic Driving Lessons

Struggling with the clutch and gears?

Perhaps your health makes driving a manual car uncomfortable?

There is no longer a need for panicking about “stalling”, worrying which gear to select for the roundabout, or the nightmare of manoeuvres!

Here at Beverly Slater School of Motoring we have an automatic, dual controlled learner car. Our specialist female instructor is renowned for her patience, friendliness and reliability. Fully qualified and experienced with several years of teaching learners, our instructor prides herself on her high pass rates.

Automatic driving lessons can mean you pass your test faster, requiring fewer lessons, therefore saving you money. We can even design an intensive/fast pass course, if you are looking to gain you licence in a hurry.

Driving lessons can be booked individually per hour or we also take block bookings. We cover Stockport, Altrincham, Sale and the surrounding areas.

So if you’ve had driving lessons before and are struggling to get to grips with the clutch and gears, or just want to pass your test quickly, automatic driving lessons may be the way forward to you.

If you are not enjoying your lessons - it will be harder to learn!
